- Shiang Cheng is a Postdoctoral Fellow at United Nations University International Institute for Global Health. She works on interdisciplinary research and programmes related to sexual and reproductive health (SRH), abortion, HIV, gender-based violence, ageing, cognitive function and impairment and non-communicable diseases. Her research largely focuses on how complex contextual factors (social, cultural, law, policies and system) influence people’s health-related behaviour and decisions and how people’s health can be improved through a multidimensional approach and effective health system.
- Shiang Cheng is currently working on a case study analysis of the development of the Malaysian health system. The project explores these developments in the context of Malaysia’s transition from low to middle-income status, using a systems thinking approach to understand the complexities of health systems development.
